Has YOUR UNIVERSITY a BIP, BIM implementation plan?

If your answer is no, you need support.

You must recognize that you and YOUR UNIVERSITY has some kind of problem, and it’s the first step to solve it. In this case, BIM CAMPUS can help YOUR UNIVERSITY, but only if you are in, with your interest and partnership.

BIM CAMPUS is a methodology of BIM implementation. BIM CAMPUS method is a bottom-up strategy

BIM CAMPUS emerges from the market to solve the problem of BIM implementation. A thirty years old technology are now, paradoxically, a great discovery.

Our research demonstrates that Universities and its Expert, almost in Spain, are far from both practice and technologies, and professional and academic profiles are beneficial to introduce this new culture that only can be developed in systemic way.

University of A Coruña Case Study

that helps University of A Coruña to become a BIM referent in Spain.

Three years ago, a couple of architecture and engineering teachers decide to contact with us, freelance consulting, as experience implementator and BIM content developers, to transfer our know-how and update the University to new building information technologies.

That’s right. That’s the role of private-public collaboration, stablished through the transference foundation of the university. Then, they recognize first that, after 26 years of BIM existence,

If you read BIM CAMPUS memorandum, you can understand that our method is created in a hostile environoment.

(BIM implementation plan)

A BIP is a roadmap to align and synchronize all actors and guarantee best BIM implementation in less time possible. Universities are a special kind of implementation, but not quite different from other public and private institutions.

In an AECO organization, BIP is not only a commercial contract but a compromise. If the organization are not engaged in the implementation, BIM MANAGERS go out and resign. It is not possible to implement someone that can not change. But in this case, the BIP must guarantee something that seems to be impossible.

Universities and institutions, knows the role to play, but not how to go there, and in almost all cases does not recognize this problem. Time passes by and the opportunity were lost a decade ago. Time of top-down strategies passes. This situation requires to find creative and confidence methods from the bottom-up, to guide universities to the right place, the place they want to reach.

BIM MANAGERS are the right profiles to Implement integrated practice both in AECO organizations and institutions. BIP is the roadmap that get and organization from one point, traditional building practice, to the next future, integrated practice.

We demostrate, after four years of testing method in the University of A Coruña, that we are right: neither academic buildings nor hardware are important, but people. They are the best resource your university has. And the professional-academic profiles are the actors of change, using a new organizations to articulate this transference: BIM Living Labs.

Teachers are the major asset that a university has. Constructing the team is common in the BIM implementation methodology. Once teachers are faced with the mission to support students activities and aspirations, and with the right support in the implementation phase, teachers become the agents of change of a University, and critic mass increase and evolve, and in a short time are ready to transferer in a mutual interaction with society around. Once the basis are created, acceleration increases constantly.
